An exploratory collection of paintings created in rhythm with my travels and evolving curiosities about place and form. These pieces reflect a slower pace where the landscape is interpreted through memory and mood rather than specific detail. The series captures the feeling of being present and unhurried in seasons that invite pause and observation.

The subject matter initially drew on inspiration from the Edmonton River Valley, trips to Vancouver Island, and tree photos I’ve taken while traveling. These pieces gradually evolved into a more abstract interpretation. Through abstraction, I was able to capture the essence of being among the trees, the density of the bare branches in early spring and the variability of the landscape under foot. There’s a real energy in how the colors came together within each piece, and I hope they bring a dynamic, lively spirit into their final homes.

I strive to paint with fresh intuition, responding to the paint as I go. Always playing within the balance of abstract and representational forms, I’m mindful to take daring risks so the painting keeps that feeling of energy. I am endlessly captivated by the process of creating layered and exuberant paintings. By stripping away the “realism”, the essence begins to surface.
